The classes I teach are rooted in and inspired by the ancient history, philosophy and traditions of yoga, the teachers I’ve learnt from, and the students I’ve had the pleasure of practising with.
All are welcome to come and practise.
Every class is different, but each class will invite you to breath and move with greater awareness. Each class will provide a balance of asana (postures), breathwork, meditation and relaxation. Modifications and options are given to tailor the class to the needs of each student. There’s nothing to prove in a yoga class. It’s a safe space to simply come and be - to be guided, challenged, nurtured and restored. Over time you will find yourself growing stronger, becoming more flexible and happy in both your mind and body. There’s no rush. As a teacher once said ‘practise, practise, all is coming’.
The practice of yoga may begin on your mat but the benefits of the practice can extend into each and every part of your life.
Why Yoga?
Yoga has developed over thousands of years to bring those who practise it into total and complete well-being. It is a healing practise. Although often first experienced and appreciated as a form of ‘physical’ exercise, yoga addresses all aspects of our human nature. The breath is key, providing the link and bridge between body and mind. The physical practice (postures known as ‘asanas’) utilise every single muscle in the body bringing strength, flexibility and alignment. Working through the body with mindful breathing, we can release tension and blockages, calming the central nervous system so that a greater sense of peace and ease prevails. It is the perfect tonic to our often busy, sometimes over-stimulated lives. Yoga teaches us to breath well, move well and rest well. The better we are, the better able we are to be with others. It’s a gift for yourself and all those you work with, love and care for.
Classes are held on a Wednesday evening from 7.15 - 8.30pm @St Crispin’s School, Wokingham
